Om is Pranava Swarupa. Aum has three letters AU&M. A is Akar means creator. U is Ukar means sustainer and M is Makar means destruction. All the three aspects of God are in AUM.

We are all particles of God. When we came out from God we had tremendous amount of ego. The cross indicates controlling ego. One must have firm faith like star in god and remain cool like moon. We have got entangled in life and death cycle due to our Karmas in pasts lives. The wheel reminds us of our karma and to get rid of them in order to get liberation from life and death cycle. The bad karmas are prompted by the Six Demons - Anger, Greed, Desire, Lust, Ego and Jealousy. If we want to get liberation we must burn these demons in the fire and become Satvik.

PRAYER TO SRI GANESHA

Vakra Tunda Mahakaya surya - Koti samaprabha ,

Nirvighnam Kurume Deva Sarva Karyeshu Sarvadaa.

Explanation- Oh! Elephant faced Ganesha, the almighty One, Thy effulgence is

                    equal to billions of suns. I pray Thee for removal of all impediments

                    in the path of my auspicious deeds.

Om Saha Naavavatu Sahanau Bhunaktu , Saha Veeryam Karavaavahai

Tejasvi Naavadhee tamastu ma vidvishaavahai .

Om Shantih Shantih Shantih

Explanation- Om! May he protect us both (the teacher and the taught) .May he

                    cause us both to enjoy protection. May we both exert to find out

                    the true meanin of the scriptures. May what we study become 

                    enlightening and  fruitful. May we never quarrel with each other.

PRAYER  TO SRI PATANJALI

Yogena Chittasya Padena Vacem , Malam Sharirasya Ca Vaidyakena

              Yopakarottam Pravaram muninam , Patanjalim Pranjaliranatoasmi.

Abahu Purushakaram , Sankha chakrasi Dharinam ,

              Sahasrasirasam Svetam Pranamami Patanjalim ,

Pranamami Patanjalim,Pranamami Patanjalim .

Explanation- To the noblest of Sages, Patanjali who gave Yoga for serenity of I

                   Mind, Grammar for purity of Speech and Medicine for perfection of

                   body. I bow,  prostrate myself before Patanjali, whose upper body

                   has human  form, whose arms hold a conch and disc, who is crowned by

                   a thousand  headed serpent. Oh incarnation of Adisesha, My

                   salutation be to thee.

FINAL (After finishing the Class)

Om Purnamadah Purnamidam Purnat Purnamudachyate ,

Purnasya Purnamadaya Purnamevavasishyate .

Explanation-That is whole, this is whole , because the whole manifests from the

                   whole, when the whole is negated what remains is again the whole.
